VolkerGround Engineering at Sturry Link Road project
VolkerGround Engineering has successfully completed the first phase of sheet piling works for new Sturry Link Road project, part of VolkerFitzpatrick’s £61 million scheme.
The wider project will deliver a 550m bypass, crossing the Great Stour River and the Canterbury to Ramsgate railway line, helping to ease congestion and improve connectivity across the area.
Our involvement began at an early stage of the project, providing temporary works designs and advising on plant selection to overcome challenging ground conditions and site constraints, including the live railway line and river crossing.
Over the course of the project, 350 tonnes of sheet piles will be installed and extracted across seven site visits using a combination of our leader rig, silent piler and movax equipment.
All sheet piles have been supplied from our extensive in-house stock, providing carbon benefits for the project.
