Appleby Flood Risk Management Scheme receives full marks in CCS audit
Our Appleby Food Risk Management Scheme (FRMS) received an excellent score in their recent Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) audit, scoring 45 out of 45 across all three sections.
We are currently working, on behalf of the Environment Agency, to upgrade the Doomsgate culvert and install a new pumping station in Appleby. These improvements will provide enhanced flood protection for the local community.
The CCS report praised the team’s proactive engagement with the community, including presentations at local schools and ongoing communication with neighbours to address questions. Throughout the project, the team has also supported local and national charities.
The audit highlighted the team’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions. Initiatives such as using sheet piles made from 70% recycled steel, reusing materials wherever possible, and sourcing locally to minimise transport requirements have helped create carbon savings on the project.
“I’m incredibly proud of what the team has achieved at Appleby. This score reflects their hard work and dedication. Participating in the CCS helps drive best practice across the industry, and we’re proud to contribute to that.”

Earlier this year, the Appleby FRMS also received a Bronze Award at the CCS National Site Awards, further demonstrating the team’s commitment to excellence.
Congratulations to the Appleby team!
