VolkerStevin celebrates National Inclusion Week
Last week, colleagues across VolkerStevin came together to mark National Inclusion Week 2026, embracing this year's theme, “Build Trust. Navigate Change” through a range of activities that celebrated diversity, inclusion and belonging.
The theme aligns closely with our commitment to Fairness, Inclusion and Respect (FIR), recognising the importance of creating workplaces where everyone feels valued, respected and able to contribute. Throughout the week, teams across our offices and sites took the opportunity to connect, learn from one another and celebrate the different cultures, experiences and perspectives that make up our workforce.
At our Preston office and the Macclesfield Wastewater Treatment Works site, colleagues gathered for Food from Around the World celebrations, sharing dishes, stories, photographs and traditions from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. The activities sparked meaningful conversations and provided a fantastic opportunity for colleagues to learn more about one another while celebrating the diversity that strengthens our business.
Similar celebrations took place on sites and offices across the country. Teams working at HMNB Devonport in Plymouth, the Eastern Revetment Sloping Wall project in Rye, the Elmer Beach Management project in Elmer, the Leigh Expansion and Hildenborough Embankment Scheme in Leigh, the Gateshead office, and the Rother Tidal Walls East project in Rye came together for breakfasts, lunches and barbecues, creating opportunities for colleagues and subcontractors to connect in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Food played a central role in many of the activities, with colleagues proudly sharing dishes from their heritage and encouraging conversations about culture, traditions and personal experiences.
