Pevensey Star Inn Gates 2025 wrap-up

We’re proud to announce the successful completion of our Pevensey Star Inn Gates project, delivered on behalf of the Environment Agency.

As part of this work, we upgraded the existing water control structure at the Pevensey Levels in East Sussex, which had reached the end of its operational life. The new solution delivered, enhances water level control and introduces a dedicated eel passage. The team adopted a collaborative approach that led to the development of an innovative, one of a kind gravity eel pass, read more about this here.

The teams’ efforts were recognised with an outstanding Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) audit score of 50/45, the highest score awarded in 2025, with only nine other sites achieving this score in the last three years.

The project was further recognised by the Environment Agency, when it received the Exemplar Award, for demonstrating how environmental innovation, stakeholder collaboration, and site-wide engagement can transform a construction site into a model of sustainability.
