Celebrating National Inclusion Week 2025 across VolkerStevin

Last week, our teams across VolkerStevin came together to celebrate National Inclusion Week—and what an incredible journey it’s been!

From Kendal to Devonport, Preston to Pevensey–Eastbourne, our offices and project sites embraced the spirit of inclusion through food, conversation, and connection.

Kendal’s Flood Risk Management team kicked things off with a global feast—Filipino, Indian, Italian, Spanish, and local Cumbrian favourites (including the iconic Cumberland sausage!). The team rounded out the day with quizzes, word searches, and plenty of cake!

The team at Pevensey–Eastbourne beach management project came together for an inclusive breakfast.

The Leigh Expansion and Hildenborough Embankment Scheme and Rother Tidal Walls project team kept the momentum going with fabulous lunches, plenty of conversation, and a celebration of the unique value each person brings to our projects.

The Southsea Coastal Scheme team tried new foods and discovered hidden culinary talents!

The New Wear Footbridge team turned inclusion into a friendly competition, with one of the team achieving an impressive 92% on the ‘Flags of the World’ quiz.

9 Dock Readiness, Devonport Dockyard team celebrated with an inclusion lunch and quiz, sharing traditional dishes from team members’ heritages and childhoods including Eccles cakes, Yorkshire puddings, roast beef, and more.

The Preston office team reflected on how diversity shapes our communities, sharing meals and the personal stories behind them.

Thank you to everyone who joined in, shared stories, and helped spread happiness through food and conversation.
