The C2V team, working on behalf of United Utilities, has completed improvements to the Nether Peover Wastewater Treatment Works.

The team started on site in February 2023, building a new below ground storage tank and flow control system that will help to reduce spills to the environment and improve the quality of treated wastewater that is returned to the local watercourse.
The team extended the pre-existing site boundary to accommodate the new inlet chamber, storm tank, kiosk and supporting equipment which were installed as a part of the project. A new power supply was also installed to service the new and existing plant.

The project intercepted and realigned two existing sewers to the new inlet chamber and re-laid the outfall pipe, which carries the treated effluent to the local water course. The team has modernised these pipelines and replaced them with robust, reinforced plastic pipes, to provide the required hydraulic performance and asset life. A new inlet chamber has been installed to control flow to the treatment works and monitor storm spills to the latest MCERTs standards. A new 85m3 storage tank was also installed, which is six metres in diameter and extends six metres below ground, to provide the required storm storage retention time. The tank is provided with integral aesthetic screening and submersible return pumps. Additional drainage has been added to help combat the risk of flooding in the area.
After completion of the works, the team installed new boundary fencing and carried out tree and shrub landscaping around the new site boundary.
"Delivering this project has been a real source of pride for the team. It brought together a wide range of expertise and a shared commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable infrastructure that has a positive impact on the local community. As we close out our AMP7 projects, the successful delivery of Nether Peover WwTW stands as a testament to the truly collaborative effort between the C2V team and United Utilities.”

While on site our project team received fantastic feedback from local residents, praising the team’s dedication to reducing the impact works had on neighbours. One resident commented: “Great effort from the team to reduce impact on neighbours, kept area safe, clean and tidy”.
We look forward to sharing future updates on the wider projects we’re undertaking with United Utilities right across the North West which will be part of the largest upgrade of the infrastructure for a century.
