The ICE South East England Engineering Excellence Awards celebrate the very best in civil engineering — showcasing projects that demonstrate outstanding design, innovation, and collaboration. Winning this award is a testament to the skill, dedication, and vision of the entire Southsea Coastal Scheme team, who continue to set new benchmarks for excellence in flood and coastal risk management.

The award-winning work on sub-frontages 4 & 5 forms part of the £185 million Southsea Coastal Scheme — the UK’s largest local authority-led flood and coastal erosion risk management project (FCERM). Stretching 4.5 kilometres along the seafront from Old Portsmouth to Eastney, the scheme is designed to significantly reduce the risk of coastal flooding and erosion to over 10,000 homes, 700 businesses, 3 scheduled monuments, and 74 listed structures.

This accolade is not only a reflection of the engineering excellence at the heart of the project, but also the power of teamwork, community engagement, and sustainable innovation. Every member of the team has played a vital role in reaching this milestone, and it is fantastic to see their hard work and commitment recognised on such a respected platform.

Congratulations to everyone involved — this is a fantastic achievement!
