VSBW, a VolkerStevin and Boskalis Westminster joint venture, scored a full 45 marks on a recent Considerate Constructors Scheme audit on the Southsea Coastal Scheme, plus two additional points for best practice. The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) seeks to improve the image of the construction industry by striving to promote and achieve high standards under its Code of Considerate Practice.

The Southsea team scored the full 15 marks in each of the three key areas along with two additional points for best practice, giving them a total score of 47 and an ‘outstanding’ rating. This result is testament to the continued enthusiasm and care demonstrated by the team throughout the project so far.

The CCS report reads: “The high score reflects the efforts of the entire team, in promoting the scheme to a wide audience with a close attention to detail and resolving any local concerns. It is clear that safety related issues are of paramount importance to the site team and active steps are taken to provide a safe working environment for all.”

It continues: “The site team have engaged with students and community organisations to present the wide range of activities on the project. The significant environmental challenges continue to be met with considerable attention to detail to reduce the impact on the landscape, ecology, stakeholders and the local community.”

Martin Dobby, Southsea Coastal Scheme project director commented: “The project is very much in the public eye, so I am massively proud of the whole team and everything we have achieved on this project so far to improve the image of construction. This is a huge accomplishment and reflects the hard work and commitment shown by all involved.”
