VolkerTrenchless Solutions is a market leader in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) and advanced underground drilling techniques. We operate one of the largest horizonal directional drilling rig fleets in Europe and are able to install cable ducts in places where conventional open cut methods cannot be used.

We minimise disruption by drilling beneath busy road and rail networks and built-up urban environments. We protect pristine environments by using our trenchless techniques to bypass ancient woodlands, rivers, estuaries, and coasts.

Our projects
The East Anglia ONE Wind Farm project in Suffolk was the largest HDD project delivered in the UK at the time. This is one of many offshore wind farms we have helped to connect to the national grid. We delivered 21 separate underground drills across the 37km of cable laying, winning a UK Society for Trenchless Technology award.
VolkerTrenchless Solutions is a delivery partner on Anglian Water’s Strategic Pipeline Alliance, which will improve water resilience across the network. We helped United Utilities to maintain the supply of water to the Sutton Hall Water Treatment Works by installing a pipe under one of the busiest roads leading into Chester city centre. We helped bring energy security to the UK by delivering six HDDs from land into the Solent estuary, connecting the UK to France via the IFA2, a subsea electrical Interconnector.
