Recent

The Preston and South Ribble Flood Risk Management Scheme (FRMS) has received an ‘excellent’ rating in a recent Considerate Constructors Scheme audit. The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) seeks to improve the image of the construction industry, by striving to promote and achieve high standards under its Code of Considerate Practice.

The project scored the maximum 15 marks in each of the three key areas: respect the community, care for the environment and value their workforce. The team has worked tirelessly to engage with the local community and keep them informed throughout the project so far.

The CCS report read: “It is clear a very positive effort has been made to establish excellent communication channels with the local community keeping everyone fully informed; public areas are clean and presentable and site appears well organised. A clear programme of community support and engagement is in place with 70% of labour being local, a programme of school visits, graduate trainees, apprentices and work experience students on site and local charities are supported.”

It continued: “There is regular environmental monitoring and audits and a clear plan for making a positive contribution to the natural environment upon completion of the project.”

The CCS report highlights the dedication shown by the project team, as it states: “It is very clear the excellent standard set on the previous visit has been maintained.”

Mark Reed, project manager, said: “This score is reflective of how hard the whole team have worked on this project. Their continued enthusiasm is to be applauded; this is a fantastic achievement for all.”
