VolkerWessels UK’s partnership with Community Wood Recycling
Last year VolkerWessels UK worked in partnership with Community Wood Recycling, a nationwide network of social enterprises collecting and reusing waste wood in the most environmentally beneficial way.
Helping the planet by saving carbon, while creating jobs and training for disadvantaged people including those recovering from substance abuse or from mental health issues, people with learning difficulties and ex-offenders - with a way to build their confidence and self-esteem. They are able to learn new skills, helping them to overcome barriers to finding employment.
During 2023, VolkerWessels UK rescued 151.9 tonnes of wood from becoming a waste which had the benefits shown to the left.
