In VolkerGround Engineering's, our piling specialists, latest visit to Old Oak Common, the team has been working on the Central Line East, constructing 54 rotary bored piles ranging between 600mm and 750mm diameter, using their Soilmec SR75.

The working area on this section has been particularly tight, requiring considerations including slew restrictors on the LTR1100 crawler crane and carefully developed lift plans, due to the close proximity of the adjacent London Underground assets.

With work complete on this section, the rig was stripped down in order to transport it over the weight restricted Network Rail bridge, in preparation for the teams next section of works on Central Line West.
