CN Talent Award win

Since its introduction in 2016, VolkerStevin’s behavioural change initiative, Safety Ripple, has been adopted across every level of the business. The initiative focuses on developing a positive environment and putting more safety decision making into the hands of the skilled construction employees.

The CN Talent Awards, held annually by Construction News magazine, celebrates inspirational people from across the construction industry. Now in its fourth year, the awards highlight businesses, teams and individuals that have made an extra step in making a difference to improve the construction industry’s reputation, professionalism and practices.

By training Safety Champions and holding Safety Ripple workshops to implement positive change across the business, VolkerStevin’s initiative has contributed towards an energised, positive and collaborative working environment.

Commenting on the award, Duncan Aspin, head of HSEQS at VolkerStevin, said: “We are delighted that VolkerStevin won the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Initiative award for Safety Ripple. It is a huge honour to have been recognised at this level and to be considered thought-leaders in the behavioural change movement.

“We are proud to have created an innovative and constructive environment through Safety Ripple, where positivity is reinforced, accidents are reduced and our staff feel trusted and empowered.”

Construction News editor Lem Bingley, commented: “Whether promoting physical and mental health, improving diversity and inclusion, closing unfair pay gaps, or becoming more socially responsible across the board, our winners are blazing trails that many others will follow. Our award winners are not only making life better for those currently working in the sector, they are also making construction a more attractive career option for the next generation of professionals.”

Alongside SafetyRipple, VolkerWessels UK, also picked up the award for Digital Team of the Year.
