VolkerStevin’s HSEQ Expo is a great success

Recent

On Tuesday 11 June, VolkerStevin hosted a HSEQ Expo at Brockholes Nature Reserve, Preston.

The event hosted over 200 attendees and a generous number of exhibitors, including the likes of GAP Hire Solutions, Atlantic Geomatics, Salix, Siltbuster and Geobind. A range of organisations was carefully selected to help raise awareness of key HSEQ risks and introduce ideas to assist with their management.

The Expo, which focused on introducing new ideas, welcoming new businesses and learning new concepts, also had an array of informative and insightful presentations throughout the day. These covered subjects such as: water pollution awareness, mitigation and licensing around protected species and sustainable management of excavation materials on redevelopment projects.

Duncan Aspin, Head of HSEQS at VolkerStevin, conducted a presentation about behavioural change and how adapting behaviour onsite and in the office can lead to an improvement in safety and efficiency. By listening to this talk, delegates gained more of an understanding of how a change in behaviour can lead to a change in attitude (and vice versa), which has the greatest impact on improving site safety.

There was a series of other fantastic talks, with representatives from the likes of the Environment Agency, United Utilities, Atkins, Jacobs and JBA Bentley, amongst others, present to take advantage of these.

Lucinda Farrington-Parker, Environment and Sustainability Manager, said: “It was great to see such a fantastic turn out, despite the awful weather conditions! Brockholes was the perfect location and we have already had a number of exhibitors asking to attend next year!”
