VolkerStevin has donated £3,000 to Derian House, one of the region’s leading children’s charities.

Derian House cares for children with life-threatening conditions throughout the North West and is located within Astley Village, Chorley.

VolkerStevin nominated Derian House as its chosen charity for 2014 after one of its employee’s Dave Taylor, pre-construction planner, moved near to their location and was touched by the work done by this worthy cause.

Throughout 2014 staff across the company took part in numerous activities to raise money for Derian House, including a dress-down day on the last Friday of every month, a Halloween fancy dress competition, cake sales and a mince pie bake-off at Christmas.

Employees from VolkerStevin visited Derian House in early June to present them with a cheque. Judy Miller, fundraiser at Derian House said: “We want to say a huge thank you to VolkerStevin for the time and effort they put into raising money for us. As we require £3.5m every year to continue our work and receive only 5% of this from the government, the support of companies like VolkerStevin is invaluable.”

On handing over the cheque Dave Taylor said: “Living near to Derian House allowed me to see the work they do for the children and families who need their help and support. Being given the chance to be part of the team who handed over the cheque gave me great joy and really escalated the conception of what they do to a much higher level.”
