Mrs Long-Bailey was welcomed by Peter Cooke, VolkerInfra’s Technical Development Director, to the specialist cable system design and engineering business based in Lancashire. The visit came after Peter and Rebecca met at an Ørsted event in Westminster last November, where the pair discussed VolkerInfra’s multi-million-pound high voltage cable installation contract awarded by Ørsted on the world’s biggest offshore wind farm, Hornsea 2.

VolkerInfra, a division of VolkerStevin and UK parent VolkerWessels UK, provides specialist services associated with cable system design, procurement and logistics, management and supervision, excavations, cable installations and insertions, jointing and terminating as well as full pre-commission testing for cable systems at voltages up to and including 400kV.

The MP was given a tour of the VolkerStevin offices and was introduced to members of the team. Mrs Long-Bailey then listened to a short presentation from Peter about VolkerInfra and the wider VolkerWessels UK company.

Peter Cooke said: “The whole VolkerInfra team were delighted to have Rebecca visit the offices. We discussed the successes of our business and our people and some of the challenges the industry is facing in the current climate. On behalf of VolkerInfra, I would like to thank Rebecca for taking the time out of her busy schedule to come and meet our team, and we look forward to keeping in contact and maintaining this relationship.”

Rebecca Long-Bailey said: “Thank you to everyone at VolkerInfra for such a lovely visit to meet the wider team who were all such lovely people. It was great to see the exciting work VolkerInfra and other businesses in the group are doing.”
