Employees get active at wellbeing week

Recent

VolkerStevin recently organised ‘wellbeing week’, as part of Stress Awareness Month. In celebration of wellness week employees were offered a series of exciting free events to participate in, to help educate employees and encourage getting active, fit, relaxed and energised.

The weeklong series of events ranged from a walking group, massage or reflexology sessions, smoothie day, yogalates and boot camp. The wellness week took place at VolkerStevin’s head office in Preston.

Local businesses were sourced from around the area, to come in and share their experience and knowledge through a mixture of different intensity activities, which helped to energise the body and mind. The bootcamp was particularly popular with employees being whipped into shape with high intensity workouts including; boxing, jogging, sprinting and rep techniques.

A holistic therapist provided a more relaxing approach, offering massage and reflexology sessions for 10 lucky winners within the business. Kirsty Russell, assistant estimator said: “I went in for a shoulder back and neck massage, the therapist used a range of treatments and oils which smelled brilliant! It really helped to take some of the stress out of the day and it has got rid of the tension.”

Chris Hudson, senior design engineer also commented: “I thought the yoga activity was great. It was good fun and definitely made me feel relaxed. It has made me aware of alternative ways to take a break away from my desk. I will definitely be trying yoga again.”

Managing director of VolkerStevin, Rob Coupe said: “We like to work as a team at VolkerStevin and with a growing successful business it is important that we offer activities like this to support the employees and develop our team building. Feedback from employees has been extremely positive.”

Stress Awareness Month is a national UK awareness month, where we can help increase awareness and prevent stress within the workplace.
