VolkerGround Engineering complete steel sheet piling works at Sainsbury's Middlesbrough

Recent

VolkerGround Engineering has successfully completed steel sheet piling works on behalf of Barr Construction at the new Sainsbury’s store in Middlesbrough.

In a continuation of the relationship with Barr Construction and their client Sainsbury’s, VolkerGround Engineering was awarded the design and build subcontract for 20m of steel sheet pile retaining wall, to be installed next to the new store development in Middlehaven, Middlesbrough.

Comprising of 8.8m long PU 22 sheet piles, the wall is required to provide ground support to a surface water sewer located between a corner of the proposed store and the nearby Cargo Fleet Road. This will strengthen the ground and ensure no damage is caused to the services and adjacent road during foundation excavation works.

Commenting on the success of the project Chris Thomas, director of VolkerGround Engineering said: “We are pleased to have been awarded further repeat works for Barr Construction and Sainsbury’s, and delighted that they continue to see us as the their main contact for sheet piling installation.”
