Completed in November 2014, and costing just over £9 million, the upgraded sea wall and refurbished promenade now provides a resilient coast defence.

Additional benefits include opportunities for organising festivals and events on the promenade; better conditions for walking and cycling; and improved connections between the town centre and the promenade. It is now an attractive place for local people and visitors to enjoy.

Throughout the construction period, which started in July 2013, we have been closely liaising with the Kirkcaldy community and received positive feedback and co-operation. We are delighted that we handed back a sea front that everyone involved in the scheme is proud of.”
