Whilst the delivery of high quality engineering and project management skills in the provision of infrastructure, remediation and hard and soft landscaping is very important, it is the way in which we deliver these construction services that enables us to add value to our clients' projects.
Our philosophy is to fully engage with our clients' wider project objectives and to contribute to the achievement of key sustainability targets through:
- Best Environmental Practise - VolkerStevin is certified to both EMAS and ISO14001:2004 and we operate to demanding targets
- Early Contractor Involvement - we are able to provide assistance on a range of commercial and technical issues giving higher surety of a successful outcome to the project as well as more effective management of construction risks.
- Third Party Liaison - all our projects are registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme to provide independent monitoring of the impact that our sites have. At all times we are happy to play a full and active role in enhancing our clients' reputations with the public.
- National and Local initiatives - many regeneration projects have objectives beyond just the provision of infrastructure such as meeting sustainability targets, increasing local employment or contributing to Regional Economic Strategy targets. We take a proactive role in contributing to our clients' wider project objectives wherever possible.
- Flexible Approach - we recognise that regeneration projects often need the contractor to be flexible to changing circumstances. We have experience of a range of commercial solutions that can provide clients with the flexibility they require.
We have completed schemes with the Homes and Communities Agency under partnering agreements at the £12M flagship site at Middlehaven Docks on Teesside and the £22M New Islington Sustainable Community Scheme in Manchester. The schemes were registered demonstration project with the Movement for Innovation (M4I) and Constructing Excellence respectively, these are widely regarded as a measure of our commitment to innovation and client focussed business practices. These schemes were particularly noted for there sustainable construction. We have also been involved in the award winning reclamation £13M Central Corridor scheme at Blackpool, the £18M reclamation scheme at Smiths Dock and following extensive ECI are currently involved in the delivery of the £85M Reclamation and Remediation of the Avenue Coking Works Site at Chesterfield, recognised as one of Europe's most contaminated sites.
